Ila Mehta
My name is Ila Mehta and the students know me as Ms. Ila. This is my eighth year teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) at ASB. Previously I have worked in United Nations International School, New York and Jakarta International School, Jakarta. I have a Masters degree in teaching from Fordham University, New York and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Diploma. I believe that language acquisition is a developmental process that integrates listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the context of academic learning and social interactions. As an EAL teacher, I will support English language learners (ELLs) to acquire the social and academic language needed to participate fully in all aspects of school life and to reach their maximum potential.
Lynn Shoemaker
Hello! My name is Lynn Shoemaker and I am one of the Learning Support Coaches. I recently arrived from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, and this will be my first year at ASB. I enjoy learning about cultures, traveling, water sports, reading, and classic movies. I have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. I have experience teaching pre-K, elementary, secondary, and university level students. I am a firm believer that all students naturally love to learn and we, as their educators, should foster every aspect possible for their success in all areas of life. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with students from all over our world, as they learn about the people and the world around them. I hope to help them reach for their dreams, whatever they may be. We have a very exciting year ahead and I look forward towards helping your child becoming a student who continues to dream, learn, and serve. Please contact me via shoemakerl@asbindia.org or in person, if you have any questions, concerns to share, or just want to chat about your child!
