Diana Soule
Let me introduce myself, I am Diana Soule, currently in my tenth year of teaching and my fourth year at ASB. I continue my love for learning outside the classroom through traveling, hiking, reading, digital photography and yoga. I am excited to be your child’s 5th grade teacher. Originally from the east coast of the states, I grew up in the DC metropolitan area (Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland) and spent ten years in the sunshine state of Florida where I taught at International Baccalaureate Schools. The PYP program allows me to provide an environment to teach with the heart and the brain in mind. Fifth grade is a wonderful grade that I love to teach, students shift into more independent learners who thrive on the social interaction of learning. I enjoy infusing technology and collaboration into the classroom to assist your child in reaching their full potential. Please feel free to email me with any questions, comments or concerns throughout the year.
Liz Riehle
Hi Grade 5. My name is Liz Riehle, and I am here at ASB to learn and teach as a student teacher this Fall. I grew up an international kid, spending most of my childhood in places like Texas, Hawaii, Kansas, and Seoul, South Korea. My passions include art, theatre, travel, cooking, and my family. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in May of 2017 with a degree in elementary education and science. My love for teaching stems from my upbringing in a teacher family, where I was taught that all children have the capacity to learn and have the right to have an education that prepares them for the modern world. I plan to increase my knowledge and application of technology within the classroom this year. After my placement at ASB, I plan to continue helping children pursue their dreams in the international school setting. I look forward to becoming an Eagle and getting to know the amazing students at ASB!
Uma Iyer
Driven by passion and curiosity, I, Uma Iyer am in my seventh year at ASB. With the combined experience of having worked with the fourth grade and the iCommons, I embark on this learning journey with our fifth graders with a certain verve, zest and responsibility; to create in collaboration an environment where they can not only flourish and thrive, but develop an inner discipline that can understand the difference between freedom and independence.
I conceptualise learning as having knowing, doing and being and the art and science of doing all three well is where I learn from my students. My passion for reading and writing, chiefly poetry, is a legacy I would like to leave for them.
“Relentless focus” on our students is the phrase from our mission statement that I would like to embody and to be with my colleagues the teachers you could trust the future of your children and the world with.
Proud to be a teacher.
