Andrew Marama
Traveling, dining out, the beach, history, reading, music, drama, basketball and volleyball are a few of my favorite things. Kia ora, my name is Mr. Andrew Marama. I am very excited to be in my seventh year in Grade 5 as the homeroom teacher and an elementary school tech. integration coach. Previously, I spent 10 years in Istanbul Turkey, teaching Grades 4, 5 and 6. Before Istanbul, I taught upper elementary in my home country in Hamilton, N.Z. As well as being a homeroom teacher I enjoy coaching middle school basketball, volleyball, and coordinating/directing the grade 3 - 5 drama musicals.
I recognize that each child is an unique individual. By providing a caring, stimulating and challenging program, each student can grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As an educator, I guide students towards their fullest potential in these areas, by creating a classroom environment that is safe, promotes risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. I believe that (1) I act as a mentor for the students, (2) encourage personalized learning, by allow the child's natural curiosity to direct their learning, and (3) promote open-mindedness and respect for themselves, all things, and for others.
I look forward to working with your child over this coming year.

Shobha Iyer
Hello everyone. I'm Shobha Iyer and I am the latest addition to the ASB family. I have been teaching for the last six years, among which I owned my own preschool and worked at other international schools. Having studied microbiology and having worked at Biocon as my first job, I am passionate about science. I have lived in a surfeit of places, including the U.S, the U.K and Dubai. After hopping around many places in India, I settled in Pune, where I have two lovely daughters, both pursuing their IB Diploma. I am very excited for the journey ahead and I am looking forward to building long-lasting relationships with the Grade 5 students!
